As of this writing (January 18, 2005), we are in Compass Cay, Exumas, in the Bahamas. We left George Town, Exuma a couple of days ago. We are on our way back to Florida. We will be returning to the West Coast, near Ft. Myers to be near Ken's Dad. We expect to be there for a year or two but you can never tell. We intend to go cruising again. We especially want to get back to Puerto Rico and the Spanish Virgin Islands. The Spanish Virgins are the most unspoiled of any in the eastern Caribbean. We may also cruise the eastern seaboard of the US. To go directly to the beginning of the latest log entries click here. To jump straight to the latest photos, click here. Julia B is our sailboat and our home. We are Ann and Ken Winans and Sam (our cat). As of October 2003 we began an extended cruise of the Caribbean. Our path has taken us through the northwest Bahamas then offshore from Spanish Wells, Bahamas east out into the Atlantic then south to Culebra, Puerto Rico (about 1000 nautical miles) then to the Virgin Islands, the Leeward and Windward Islands, the coast of Venezuela, and and now back north stopping at St. Croix, Puerto Rico and the Spanish Virgins again, and on up through the Bahamas to Florida. Our boat is a 1979 Tartan 37 (hull No. 255) that we have upgraded extensively (see the picture at right). She is named for Ken’s mom who passed away in 1996. Julia B is our second cruising boat. Our first, a 1981 Pearson 323, was named Into the Mystic, after the Van Morrison song. Click on the photo at left to view a larger image of Julia B. |
